The 2023 Cook Out 400 at Richmond is a 400-lap .75-mile race on a D-shaped asphalt track. Dubbed “America’s premier short track,” the Richmond Raceway hosts two NASCAR events. One of those is the Cook Out 400, which is on the program on Sunday.
The other one is the Toyota Owners 400, which we saw Kyle Larson win in April. A year earlier, however, it was Larson’s archrival Denny Hamlin who won it. The two rivals are almost certainly going to be in the spotlight on Sunday, as both are in the Top 3 of the 2023 Cook Out favorites. Still, neither of them is the No. 1 favorite. Instead, it’s the current leader in the 2023 Drivers’ championship, Martin Truex Jr.

Kyle Larson Plotting Revenge Over Denny Hamlin for Last Week’s Race
Last week at the Pocono, Kyle Larson apparently got bumped by Denny Hamlin, who still insists it did not happen. Nevertheless, while Hamlin was trying to overtake him to the leading spot, Larson’s car hit the wall. As a result, Larson finished in 20th place, while Hamlin won the race.
This wasn’t the first time this season that Hamlin bumped Larson’s car. A similar thing happened in Kansas. Hamlin won that race, with Larson finishing in second place. It’s needless to say that Larson is angry with Hamlin, who’s turning into a sort of NASCAR villain. But can Larson use his anger as a fuel that would take him all the way to the win at Richmond on July 30?
He might, but this doesn’t mean he’s going to have an easy job in Virginia. The thing is that the season is heating up and everyone’s in need of points. That’s why you can be sure Hamlin, Truex Jr., and everyone else will take this race very seriously.
