Bodog has discontinued its brand in Canada and relaunched under the name Ozoon, concluding nearly three decades of operations under its original identity. The transition took place following scheduled maintenance, during which player accounts were migrated. Customers can now access their balances using their existing login credentials.
The owner of the Bodog brand confirmed the decision to withdraw the name from use by online gambling operators. In its communication, the company stated: “After nearly 30 years as one of the world’s premiere gambling entertainment brands, the owner of the Bodog brand has decided to discontinue its use by online gambling operators.”
“While we are thankful for such a great partnership for so many years, this has presented an exciting opportunity to relaunch under a new brand name – Ozoon.”
The new platform operates at Ozoon.eu and is managed by Rocketship Ventures under a licence issued by the Tobique Gaming Commission, part of the Tobique First Nation in New Brunswick. The commission accepts applications from foreign operators and works with the Differentia Licensing Advisory Group. It states that it supports responsible and transparent gaming practices.
Player accounts and balances have transferred to the new domain. The company has indicated that payment methods used by Canadian customers will continue to function, including crypto options. It also confirmed that withdrawal processes and bonus structures remain available under the new brand.
Ozoon has described its positioning in the market, stating: “This new brand will reflect our partner’s commitment to a player-focused brand, delivering what players really want – a wide variety of games, unlimited payouts, meaningful rewards and friendly player support.” The operator also directed customers to “Find out more now at www.ozoon.eu”.
Under its trust messaging, Ozoon highlights continuity from the team behind Bodog, fast and reliable payments, and 24/7 customer support. It emphasizes a track record of treating players fairly and respectfully.
In the casino segment, the platform promotes “A refined mix of top quality slots and live tables chosen for players who appreciate good taste.” It further notes: “New games added regularly, keeping things fresh without overwhelming you.” The site also references “Seamless gameplay on any device — the kind of polish that speaks for itself.”
For sports betting, Ozoon outlines competitive odds on leagues popular with Canadian bettors, live betting functionality, and features such as same game parlays and custom bet builders.
The rebrand aligns with Bodog’s exit from Manitoba. A provincial judge issued a permanent injunction ordering the company to stop advertising, close bodog.eu, and block Manitoba residents due to the absence of a local licence.
Bodog Poker, which previously operated in Canada and across Latin America including Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, and Venezuela, will transition Latin American poker accounts to Ignition Poker. Customers must download Ignition’s software to access their former Bodog accounts. Existing deposit and withdrawal methods and bonuses will remain available.
The shift occurs during broader scrutiny of offshore operators in Canada. Bodog had operated outside provincial regulatory systems, including Ontario’s competitive framework that allows private operators to compete alongside the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation. Alberta has signaled plans to introduce a similar model to compete with PlayAlberta.
The Canadian Lottery Coalition, formed in August 2022 by provincial gaming bodies including BCLC, AGLC, Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries, Loto-Québec, and Atlantic Lottery, has sought to curb offshore gambling and related advertising.
An April 2025 Ontario study found that 16 percent of players used unregulated sites, often licensed overseas. At the same time, 83 percent of Canadian users wagered on regulated platforms across 48 licensed markets, generating billions in revenue.
Research presented at the Canadian Gaming Summit 2025 by Troy Ross of TRM Public Affairs estimated illegal market gross gaming revenue at CAD1.97 billion in Quebec, CAD1.3 billion in Alberta and British Columbia, CAD757 million in Ontario, and CAD600 million in Atlantic Canada.
Calvin Ayre founded Bodog in the late 1990s and launched its sportsbook in 2000. The brand gained prominence during the early online poker expansion before moving into casino gaming. In 2012, U.S. authorities seized the Bodog domain and indicted Ayre, leading to a rebrand to Bovada for the American market.
