Aristocrat’s chief executive officer, Trevor Croker, has addressed the company’s recent performance, expressing optimism in its ability to digitalize its traditional casino games.

In his address during the annual general meeting, Croker commented on Aristocrat’s FY results, praising the company’s growth. He pointed out that FY23 saw the company deliver revenue of $6.3 billion and an EBITDA margin of 33.4%.

Net profit before amortization stood at $1.3 billion, representing a profit improvement of 21%. The iGaming segment skyrocketed, reporting revenue and profit growth of 22% and 23% respectively. International Class III products, on the other hand, posted revenue growth of a whopping 87%, underpinned by strong performance in EMEA and Asia.

The company’s NA presence increased, placing Aristocrat’s growth well ahead of that of its competitors.

We once again generated robust operating cash flow, which was applied to fund our growth initiatives, including capital investments in our installed base in North America and the strategic acquisition of Roxor Gaming.

The Roxor acquisition closed in January 2023, allowing Aristocrat to grow its European iGaming footprint. Following that, Aristocrat also moved in to acquire NeoGames in a deal that it is yet to complete.

The Largest Growth Opportunity Lies in the RMG Sector

As for the future, Croker is optimistic about Aristocrat’s business in North America. The company recently forayed into Quebec’s VLT market. The company is also set to launch VLTs in Georgia in 2024.                                               

The company also plans to continue its investments in D&D as it seeks to differentiate itself from its rivals. Croker cited the recent launch of NFL-themed electronic gaming machines as a perfect example of this.

However, the largest growth opportunity lies in the RMG sector, Croker believes. He said that the performance of its first releases quickly proved that Aristocrat’s land-based casino games would resonate online.

New Games Will Reach Players across Québec

Thanks to the new entry into the VLT gaming market in the Canadian province, Aristocrat confirmed that 10 games will be launched. The list includes hit titles such as Bao Zhu Zhao Fu Red Festival, Fu Dai Lian Lian Panda, Fire Light, Scorchin’ Fortune, Flamin’ Hits and Prosperity of the Nile, among other quality games. According to Aristocrat, the games will be displayed via MidKnight X, the company’s new upright cabinet.

Operators offering sports betting and gambling services across the globe have strict rules when it comes to data protection. The access of senior-level employees is monitored while the protection of intellectual property remains an important priority for developers within the gambling sector.

Now, a new report reveals that an Aristocrat employee is facing legal action over allegedly downloading more than 6,800 files from its services. As announced by the Associated Press, Dinh Toan Tran, a game designer with Aristocrat, is in hot water after the leading gaming operator filed a lawsuit, claiming he downloaded thousands of files.

The alleged incident dates back to December. In its lawsuit, the leading pokies developer claims Tran downloaded more than 6,800 files. With the lawsuit, Aristocrat seeks to recover the files.

During a court hearing last week, the company secured a search order from the Federal Court. Consequently, a property where Tran allegedly resided was searched. During the search, electronic devices such as tablets, laptops and external storage devices were seized.

The Court ordered Tran to provide the details needed to log in while at the same time asking him to reveal his whereabouts. Moreover, Tran was ordered not to delete or discard any documents, files or other intellectual property that may belong to the company. Experts are currently analyzing the information uncovered on the devices that were seized during the search that happened at a property located in western Sydney.

Analysis of the Information from the Seized Devices Continues

Ken Brotherson, is the lawyer representing the employee. He confirmed that his client wasn’t present when the search warrants were executed.

Federal Court Justice Yaseen Shariff explained that Aristocrat had a right to determine whether it was wrong or right about its suspicion of the downloaded files. He explained: “It seems to me everything has been done extremely professionally.”

It is yet to be confirmed if Tran indeed obtained any company files. Currently, it remains unclear what the essence of those files might be. Still, John Hennessy SC, Aristocrat’s barrister, informed the court on Thursday that a specific USB storage device is “the focus of the investigation.” Investigation and analysis of the files obtained during the searches continue.

The legal action comes after in December, Aristocrat announced the launch of its 3rd NFL-themed game, Overtime Cash. The launch reaffirmed the company’s successful relationship with the NFL and further expanded the portfolio of games for fans of the sport.

Aristocrat has published its full-year results for 2023, posting a robust revenue and EBITDA gain. Between September 2022 and September 2023, the company recorded operating revenue of AUD 6.3 billion.

Now licensed in 103 countries and 327 jurisdictions, the company also reported EBITDA of AUD 2.1 billion. Based on normalized results, operating revenue recorded year-on-year growth of 13%. This is notably the lowest increase recorded by the company and was driven by strong performance in Aristocrat Gaming in North America. Pixel United’s performance was impacted by a variety of factors.

Aristocrat also reported net profit of AUD 1.3 billion, representing a 21% increase. In the meantime, the most significant growth was from the company’s earnings per share, which increased by 26% to 189.6c.

Aristocrat’s results highlighted operating cash flow of AUD 1.79 billion. At the close of the fiscal year, the gambling giant also reported cash debt of AUD 809 million.

In addition to posting strong results, Aristocrat reported strong growth of Premium Class III and Class II installed base, which grew by 8.2%, exceeding 64,000 units. Aristocrat remained the leading supplier in the US market, achieving portfolio performance of 1.4x floor average. Aristocrat also featured 19 of the top 25 Top Premium Leased games, 17 of the Top 25 Mechanical Reel games and 14 of the top 25 Class II Video games.

CEO Croker Praised the Results

Aristocrat’s chief executive officer and managing director, Trevor Croker, commented on the results, saying that he is proud of the company’s annual achievements. He said that the “high-quality result” achieved by the company “demonstrates the ongoing resilience, competitiveness and diversification” of Aristocrat’s portfolio. Croker added that the results also attested to the sound fundamentals in the markets in which Aristocrat operates.

Aristocrat Leisure, a global gaming content and technology company, just suffered another devastating cyberattack. As a result, personal information belonging to employees was leaked.

According to the company, a criminal hacker exploited a newly identified vulnerability in MOVEit, a third-party file-sharing software employed by Aristocrat.

The announcement claims that the hacker leveraged the vulnerability to extract data from a company server. Unfortunately, personal information belonging to Aristocrat employees was also compromised in this process.

To make matters worse, the criminals have already published extracts of the stolen data on the web.

As a company committed to high probity standards and the protection of its employees’ privacy, Aristocrat took immediate action to patch up the aforementioned vulnerability.

The company listed the steps it has taken to protect its business from further harm. First of all, Aristocrat immediately took action to contain the incident and remediate the MOVEit software vulnerability.

In addition, the company contacted law enforcement bodies and relevant regulators about the incident. At the same time, Aristocrat is now working with independent experts to determine the nature of the stolen data and mitigate the damages.

Finally, Aristocrat advised all of its employees to protect their data and offered them complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection services.

Aristocrat added that it has assessed the potential impact on its business. The company is certain that its quick action will mitigate the damages. The company vowed to remain vigilant and serve the interest of its employees and stakeholders.

The cyberattack aside, Aristocrat’s business has been doing well, as affirmed by its stellar financial results. In H1, the company metrics skyrocketed, highlighting the efficiency of Aristocrat’s business strategy.

The company is currently exploring options for further growth, including the proposed acquisition of NeoGames. Aristocrat’s chief product officer, Matthew Primmer, argued, that the billion-dollar deal will enable Aristocrat to enter the iGaming and iLottery verticals. The arrangement secured the approval of an overwhelming majority of NeoGames’ shareholders.
