In the wake of the recent legislative failure to expand gambling in Texas, Naskila Casino, one of the three legal gaming establishments in the state, is ramping up its advertising efforts to attract new customers.

Whitney Williams, the social media specialist at Naskila Casino, conveyed her excitement regarding the new advertising campaign, mentioning that seeing the signs was thrilling and that it created an irresistible anticipation for the experience. She further stated that the casino had the objective of expanding its player base and promoting growth, reported KETK NBC. Williams added that they were optimistic about their ability to develop a robust player network.

However, Texas Values, an organization dedicated to preserving family values in the state, has expressed concerns about the advertisements promoting gambling expansion. Jonathan Covey, the policy director for Texas Values, voiced his apprehension, noting that such ads can be harmful and potentially exacerbate addictive disorders. Covey cited evidence linking gambling problems to increased family violence and the rise of underage online gambling.

Despite the concerns raised by Texas Values, the Alabama Coushatta Tribe of Texas, which operates Naskila Casino, emphasized that their destination offers more than just gambling. Williams highlighted the variety of recreational activities available, such as visiting the lake area with cabins and RV parking.

While neighboring states have actively lured Texans across their borders with gaming options, the prospects for additional casinos within Texas remain dim. The failed expansion efforts have placed a firm cap on casino growth in the Lone Star State.

Texas Abandons Online Sports Betting in 2023, but Governor Perry Remains Optimistic

Texas has recently abandoned its pursuit of online sports betting in 2023, as legislative sessions have concluded without progress in passing comprehensive gambling expansion laws. A bill aiming to expand sports betting did not advance beyond the House, lacking interest and support in the Senate. 

Texas has traditionally taken a strict stance against gambling, considering it a cause of social issues. However, proponents like investor Mark Cuban argue that introducing casinos in the state could boost tourism and retain revenue currently lost to neighboring states. 

Despite the defeat, Texas Governor Rick Perry remains optimistic about the industry’s future. Perry, a spokesperson for the Texas Sports Betting Alliance, believes that the State Senate can be convinced to support the legalization of sports betting. 

Perry emphasized the potential for Texas to become a casino resort destination and acknowledged the desire of Texans to bet in a safe and regulated environment. However, the main challenge lies in calling a referendum and amending the constitution, which requires two-thirds majorities in both the Senate and the House. Governor Perry hopes to see the matter put to a vote in a 2025 ballot.

They won’t be going it alone, however, as the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is similarly looking to help further boost tourism.

Therefore, MGTO and Trip.com are expanding a previously negotiated partnership and will focus on boosting marketing operations so that it can promote Macau as a tourist destination worth visiting. Foreign travelers will get a number of great incentives to come to the SAR, including additional overnight accommodations and other benefits.

To help further enthusiasm and interest in the SAR’s tourist destinations, the MGTO will make certain hotels in Macau will offer better incentives for such international travelers. The extended partnership will cover a several-month promotional period which has already got underway and will run through June.

Trip.com users will benefit from discounted rates, with savings running within $75. A fair bit of promotional money will also go into furthering the reputation of Macau as a worthwhile tourist destination is set at around $81 million, which will now go into pushing the marketing scheme and bringing more travelers.

Good Track Record Motivates MGTO to Pick Trip.com

Trip.com is an alternative to other popular websites, such as Expedia and Booking. There is no clear reason why this site has been picked over the other two services, although Trip.com may just have a better profile in places such as Thailand, Singapore, and South Korea than the rest.

Besides, the MGTO and Trip.com have already a successful track record of collaborating together and bringing around positive and meaningful change. A previous campaign set in 2020 and titled “See You in Macau” brought around the expected results and emboldened the MGTO that such marketing and promotional schemes are indeed striking home with the right audiences.

Niagara Falls Review reported that the OLG Stage at Fallsview Casino opened its doors to the media for a tour of the new theatre in order to showcase the venue and its unique features.

All 5,000 Seats Are No More Than 150 Feet Away from the Stage

The 5,000-seat theatre was built on top of the Hilton Hotel parking garage and required 685,000 work hours to complete. It cost CAD 130 million ($96 million) and was built in the period from 2017 to 2020.
The new theatre was delayed by the pandemic, which either canceled or postponed several shows. The delay gave designers the chance to fine-tune the venue to optimize the acoustics. OLG spokesman Tony Bitonti explained that there were operational requirements that needed to be addressed and that fine-tuning was necessary, as is the case with all facilities of this size around the world.

The OLG Stage boasts four levels of seating, and no seat is more than 150 feet away from the stage. The facility further features cutting-edge sound and lighting technologies. Two glass-enclosed walkways connect the venue to Fallsview Casino.

To test the sound system, Toronto band The Beaches played an eight-song set for about 100 media members and social media influencers that was followed by a Q&A session. The media were impressed with the 6,400-foot stage and audio system.

The Beaches also praised the sound quality on stage, with drummer Eliza Enman-McDaniel commenting that it was the most notable thing that made an impression on her. Lead singer Jordan Miller said that it felt like being back in high school doing a matinee, while guitarist Kylie Miller suggested that The Beaches were the first all-girl band to play at the new venue. Miller further added she was blown away by the facility, saying that it was new but sounded amazing.

Niagara Casinos President Expects a Visitation Boost Prompted by the New Theatre

According to Niagara Casinos’ President Richard Taylor, the new facility will boost tourism in Niagara, prolong hotel stays, improve customer satisfaction, and attract more visitors to Fallsview Casino.

Senior property asset manager Rob Divencha noted that the new theatre has received positive feedback from the handful of artists who have already played there. The first production to use the new venue was “Canada’s Got Talent,” which rented the OLG Stage for a week in October 2022 to film the show. Since then, the stage has seen concerts by The Lumineers, Don Felder, LIVE, and a few others.

Upcoming shows at the new theatre include Bret Michaels, Rod Stewart, and a grand opening night with Billy Joel. The Fallsview Casino Resort is also home to the 1,500-seat Avalon Theatre, which will remain open despite the new venue opening.
