The Potawatomi Casino Hotel in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has a serious problem with car thefts. According to reports, a total of 11 cars have been stolen since September 24.

FOX6 News spoke with one of the victims, Mike Sheridan, whose rented car was stolen from the parking garage on October 4. Sheridan was visiting the casino resort, unaware that he was about to get in trouble.

The man told the news outlet that he also lost all the valuables he had in the car, which included a $700 camera and a pair of earbuds. He regretted leaving these items unattended and slammed the police and casino hotel for not warning him of the thefts.

The car thieves have been active since September 24, targeting primarily Kia and Hyundai cars. This was also information that the casino staff did not clearly communicate, with Sheridan arguing that they had put his safety at risk.

The man used the interview with FOX6 to warn car renters to be vigilant and not repeat his mistake. Sheridan concluded that he is almost certain the thieves would continue to strike unless the casino resort improved its security and surveillance. The victim hopes that the police will make arrests to dissuade further car stealing attempts.

Potawatomi Casino Hotel Advised Guests to Be Careful

The car Sheridan had rented is one of 11 stolen cars. It turned up some ten days later, although the man’s valuables were still missing.

The Potawatomi Casino Hotel staff said they are aware of the incidents. Because of that, the resort promised to monitor all parking lots and entrances 24/7. Despite that, the property advised its guests against leaving valuable items in their cars.

In the meantime, Potawatomi Casino Hotel’s senior security manager, Travis Gervais, released a statement, informing that Kia and Hyundai cars are in extra danger. He said that the Potawatomi Casino Hotel parking lot is, sadly, not much safer than other streets or parking structures in Milwaukee.

According to Gervais, the thieves are able to steal a car in less than a minute. Because of that, he asked all guests to park in high-trafficked and well-lit areas and lock their cars’ doors securely. The manager added that investing in a quality anti-theft system or steering wheel locking device is advisable.

Hundreds of thousands of drivers in Maryland bear registration plates with a link to what seems to be a site commemorating the War of 1812. However, locals found out that the link is related to an offshore casino.

About 15% of all registered vehicles (around 798,000) in the state bear plates that commemorate the war. In addition to mentioning the occasion and sporting an American flag and some fireworks, these license plates also have a link to a site under the www.starspangled200.org URL.

Star Spangled 200 used to be the site of a non-profit organization founded in 2007. However, instead of opening a website related to the War of 1812, following the link redirects users to www.globeinternational.info, a Philippine online gambling site.

Instead of information about the War of 1812 and commemorative materials, the site offers a variety of casino games and betting market, including virtual cockfighting offerings.

Many people thought that there could have been some typo in the URL. However, it turns out that this is not the case.

According to The Washington Post, it is not clear when this redirect happened. The Philippines-based casino is owned by a private firm that has so far remained silent despite the effort of Maryland officials to contact the owners.

At the same time, authorities found it impossible to reach Star Spangled 200. Sandy Hillman Communications, a former partner of the non-profit organization claims that it had been disbanded. Its spokesperson, Lauren Walbert, said that she doesn’t know who is maintaining the actual site now.

The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) addressed the matter, stating that it has never owned or maintained the URL in question. The association also emphasized that it does not endorse the gambling website in any capacity.

Endorse or not, the MVA now has to decide what to do next. While the agency has refrained from announcing its plans, it said that it is considering its options. Paul J. Wiedefeld, Maryland’s Transportation Secretary is also yet to comment on his plans.

Some have suggested that the MVA might consider changing the plates with new ones or buying the URL. However, both options are likely to be pricy. In any case, the Maryland authorities will likely have to do something, considering the plates’ ties to an unlicensed gambling website.

On Friday, January 27^th, 2023 the mixed martial arts Irish superstar, Conor McGregor, was hit by a car while riding his bicycle on the streets of Ireland. Luckily for McGregor he seemed to be unharmed by this accident, and although he could have been killed in this incident, he escaped the situation with only seeming to have ripped his pants.

The now 34 – year – old McGregor, posted several videos of the aftermath of the incident to his Instagram and other social media sites on Friday, January 27^th, 2023. This accident left Conor breathless and feeling extremely lucky as McGregor can be heard saying in the videos that, “I could have been dead there.” The driver of the car that hit McGregor while Conor was on his bicycle could be heard intensely apologizing for the accident.

“Got a bang of a car just now from behind,” the UFC and MMA star, Conor McGregor, posted to his Instagram account. “A sun trap, the driver couldn’t see me. Full speed straight thru me. Thank you, God, it wasn’t my time. Thank you wrestling and judo also. Having an awareness on the landing saved my life.“

With a mixed martial arts overall record of 22 and 6 McGregor is the most famous, well – known, and largest superstar in the history of professional mixed martial arts as well as the history of the UFC. Conor has not had a professional fight ever since he suffered a serious leg injury while in a cage – fight that he ultimately lost against Dustin Poirier back in July of 2021.

Earlier during this current week, Conor explained to the major sports media outlets that the UFC has once again asked him if he would to appear on the “The Ultimate Fighter” reality series as a coach which will be filmed later on this year. McGregor has not yet made a decision on whether or not he will accept that offer from the UFC. Conor has already coached a previous season of “The Ultimate Fighter” way back in 2015.

Earlier this week, some Spanish officials told to the network of ESPN that Conor McGregor is presently being investigated for the accusations that he physically assaulted a young woman on his yacht back last summer. McGregor has emphatically denied these allegations publicly.
