The overhaul of the gambling sector in the UK is yet to lift off. While recently, the government released the White Paper of the review of the Gambling Act, meaningful changes are still ahead. Yet, amid talks for a possible shirt sponsorship ban, many soccer teams in the country vowed support for such a measure, ahead of regulatory restrictions and changes to the vertical.

But while a front-of-shirt gambling sponsorship ban is expected a few years into the future, this still leaves time for soccer teams to complete their existing deals or even sign new short-term agreements with gambling companies.

Now, Chelsea, the famous soccer team, is reportedly in final talks with Stake, the popular online casino platform for a new one-year sponsorship deal, The Telegraph reveals. If the deal is finalized, it would designate Stake as Chelsea’s new front-of-shirt gambling sponsor.

The announcement comes at a time when the partnership between the soccer club’s current front-of-shirt sponsor, Three, is scheduled to expire this summer. Gambling sponsorship deals are not disclosed to the public, but it was estimated that Three and Chelsea’s collaboration was worth some £40 million ($51.2 million). It is likely that the new collaboration with Stake may have a similar price tag.

Previously, Stake inked a sponsorship deal with Everton, one of Chelsea’s Premier League rivals. That deal was announced last year and it was estimated at approximately £10 million ($12.8 million) annually, a figure that is not uncommon for the Premier League.

If Chelsea finalizes the collaboration with Stake, the gambling company would position its logo on the front of the shirt of the players. It is expected the logo to be present on all fan shirts that are adult size, while kids’ shirts likely won’t display a sponsor.

Even if Chelsea finalizes its sponsorship agreement with Stake, that won’t violate the upcoming gambling sponsorship ban. This is because the agreement will likely replace Three for the next season, running for a year. Per the changes to the regulations, clubs and gambling operators are allowed to complete their existing or new agreements through the end of the 2025/26 season.

Chelsea is one of the sponsors of the voluntary front-of-shirt sponsorship ban. With that in mind, the club is yet to officially confirm if the talks with Stake have secured final approval.

Real Madrid Determined to Retain Their UCL Title

Los Blancos are in top form right now in all competitions. The evidence of their brilliant run is that exactly seven days before the UCL match with Chelsea, they destroyed Barcelona 4-0 at Camp Nou. Karim Benzema scored a hat-trick in that game, while we also saw Vinicius Junior score one goal.

We expect a lot from those two in the duel with Chelsea on Wednesday as well. One of the reasons is that those two guys have some really good memories from the games with this rival. After sacking Graham Potter, the London Blues appointed Frank Lampard as their caretaker manager. He’s back at Chelsea after two years and is hoping his second stint will be more successful. The Blues have been pretty disappointing on the road this season. Their most recent away game in the UCL saw them lose to Dortmund 1-0. In the group phase of this competition, however, they did okay, going 2-0-1.

They defeated Salzburg 2-1 in Austria and AC Milan 2-0 in Italy, while losing 1-0 to Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia in what was Thomas Tuchel’s final game as the Chelsea boss. After losing to Dinamo, Potter took charge, which lasted until a week ago.

Chelsea Going All-In on Tuesday

The Blues have been horrible over the last couple of months, but they still have a chance to salvage the season. They stand a decent chance to advance to the quarterfinal of the 2022-23 Champions League.

After losing just 1-0 to Dortmund in Germany, the Blues can book their ticket to the next stage with a win on Tuesday. We say “just” because Dortmund are great when playing at Westfalen, so losing by just one goal isn’t too bad.

The big question is can Chelsea win in the rematch? They definitely have the manpower to pull it off. Since American businessman Todd Boehly bought the club, Chelsea have invested more than $600 million on transfers. The Blues’ roster is packed with amazing players, but they still haven’t clicked. Maybe they will click on Tuesday?

Dortmund Looking for Their Sixth Straight Away Win

Dortmund have been in fabulous form, both at home and on the road. In away matches, they’re 5-0 this season in all competitions. There is a caveat, however. They haven’t played against too many teams that are as strong as Chelsea.

They did beat the Blues in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16. However, it happened on their turf, and if we’re being honest, they weren’t too great in that game. In fact, they had only two shots at goal, one of which went in.

Dortmund players did well at the back in that game. Chelsea had eight shots at goal, but BVB’s goalie Gregor Kobel managed to keep a clean sheet.
