Ahead of Super Bowl LVIII, one of the most anticipated football events across the United States, TUMS, an antiacid brand, joined forces with DraftKings, the leading betting and gaming operator, for the launch of TUMS Prop Bites, a new free-to-play game. The game, described as a “first-of-its-kind platform where fans can make their free food picks and see how they stack up against the rest of the nation,” offers a chance for lucky players to win a share of a $10,000 prize pool.

Players of TUMS Prop Bites can try their luck and pick which foods are at the heart of America’s hearts and stomachs. The free-to-play game launched earlier this week and will be available through February 11, 2024, the date that marks the start of Super Bowl LVIII, also known as the Big Game. Bettors and sports fans alike who would want to try their luck can do so before kickoff. Once the Super Bowl starts, the TUMS Prop Bites will close.

To ensure more entertainment for Super Bowl and football fans, DraftKings and TUMS organized a kicking-off Big Game Weekend. The duo agreed to host the TUMS Prop Bites Food Casino at Circa Stadium Swim in Las Vegas.

The exciting event will take place on February 9, 2024, between 12 PM and 6 PM and will feature Desus Nice, the famous comedian. Guests who attend the event will be able to participate in games for free which would grant them a shot at winning different prizes.

Besides participating in the TUMS Prop Bites Food Casino, the famous comedian was designated as the Official TUMS Prop Bites Tipster. He will engage in different social media activations and digital content, ahead of the Big Game.

The Game Promises Exceptional Experiences for Sports and Food Fans Alike

Jay Danahy, DraftKings’ head of brand partnerships and operations, spoke about the importance of the Super Bowl for the company every year. He added that DraftKings is thrilled to team up with TUMS and release TUMS Prop Bites, a free-to-play game that lets “food fans get in on the competitive action on game day and leading up to it.” Last but not least, Danahy pointed out: “Food is a key part of the Big Game experience for fans watching at home and TUMS Prop Bites creates an authentic extension of what DraftKings is all about, providing customers with more ways to engage with the events they love.”

Jissan Cherian, TUMS’ senior director, digestive health, was similarly thrilled regarding the new collaboration with DraftKings. He said that the new game offers another form of entertainment for football fans, in addition to their favorite foods. Finally, Cherian reminded that TUMS helps fans by offering relief from heartburn.

PrizePicks has returned to Michigan, this time launching a free-to-play version of its pick’em daily fantasy sports game. The company’s pay-to-play product was recently outlawed in the state but PrizePicks seems to be adapting quickly.

The free-to-play spin of the company’s product will first hit Michigan’s gaming market, allowing fans to once again play with PrizePicks. Similar to the pay-to-play daily fantasy sports game, the new product will feature parlaying between two and six players over/unders.

“Play for Free. Win for Real. Every Day.”

Users will be provided with 1,000 PrizePoints daily they can allocate to their athletes. The top 100 players who finish with 1,001 credits or more will receive prizes of between $2 and $250. This means that PrizePicks will provide participants with daily fun for free while still allowing the top players to win prizes.

PrizePicks’ vice president of innovation, Brian Huss, commented on the new release, saying that it will help the company familiarize more players with the company’s products.

This new free-to-play format is the first of new game types to come and opens the door for us to reach sports fans who may not already be familiar with PrizePicks.

Michigan Outlawed Fantasy Sports

PrizePicks is the largest skill-based daily fantasy sports company in the NA region. It offers a simple yet fun take on daily fantasy sports, engaging fans with thrilling experiences.

The company boasts a variety of accolades and was named Fantasy Sports Business of the Year by the Fantasy Sports & Gaming Association, as well as the Fantasy/DFS Operator of the Year by EGR North America.

The launch of PrizePicks’ latest game comes in the wake of Michigan’s decision to ban fantasy contests. According to the state, such products mimic betting and should be prohibited.

The Michigan Gaming Control Board is yet to comment on PrizePicks’ new product.

In September, the Florida Gaming Control Commission also cracked down on fantasy sports operators, issuing cease-and-desist letters to several companies. PrizePicks was among the operators to receive such a letter. Other companies that were asked to stop their betting operations included Underdog Sports and Betr.

However, some critiqued the regulator for not sending similar letters to industry giants DraftKings and FanDuel.

The National Hockey League (NHL) announced it has entered into a new partnership with sports gamification expert, Low6, to enhance fan experiences and popularize its product.

Shared Values of Engagement and Innovation

Under the collaboration, Low6 became an official free-to-play gaming provider of the NHL and its free-to-play games are seen as second-screen interactive experiences bringing shared values of fan engagement and digital innovation that can help the league captivate more fans of ice hockey globally.

Commenting on the partnership, Low6 co-founder and chief executive officer, Jamie Mitchell, outlined the company’s plans for the near future, thrilled to see the platform being selected by the NHL as the league’s provider of free-to-play games.

“Over the next two years, we will be providing highly innovative games, actionable data and a whole heap of fun for users,” Mitchell said, emphasizing that Low6’s gamification suite will benefit the league and its commercial partners by “activating revenue.”

Low6 launched its first free-to-play NHL game, NHL PrePlay, in partnership with Canadian-based online sportsbook operator BET99 in December, asking hockey fans in Canada to provide answers to a set of questions linked to the outcome of the matches throughout each game day of the NHL season, competing for a chance to win C$100,000 ($73,800), weekly ticket giveaways and NHL shop gift cards.

Included in BET99’s marketing communications, the free-to-play game helps BET99 receive brand exposure and facilitates its objective to provide betting education to its users.

Another NHL free-to-play game produced by Low6 is the Pepsi Zero Sugar NHL Goalie Challenge in which fans are asked to choose three goalies from the NHL and match them with one of three options: getting a win, racking up the most saves or having the fewest goals scored against them. With an interactive element to it, the game allows players to drop cans of Pepsi on which goaltender they thought would earn a shutout.

Free-to-Play NHL Games

Half a dozen new NHL free-to-play games were launched by Low6 in the past three months, including NHL Stats Streak presented by SAP, NHL Winter Classic, NHL Stadium Series, NHL All-Star Bingo, the 2023 NHL All-Star Fan Vote presented by Guaranteed Rate, and 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs Bracket Challenge presented by Geico.

A new NHL game is already down the pipeline, the 2023 Stanley Cup Final Bingo, and will soon be launched by the sports gamification expert.

Outside of hockey, Low6 has been producing free-to-play games for other sports, including basketball, soccer, and even esports, actively supporting its partners to engage with their fan bases through gamification.
