Justin Herbert’s unfortunate setback marks his second finger injury this season, with the previous fracture occurring on his non-throwing hand in Week 4. The Los Angeles Chargers did not disclose much additional information regarding their quarterback’s eventual return, leading many to speculate that the injury may cause him to sit out the upcoming game versus the Raiders.

Herbert Was a Lynchpin for the Team

On the play resulting in the injury, Herbert got hit by Denver’s defensive end Zach Allen. While the quarterback demonstrated impressive grit and completed the drive after the injury, he didn’t return for the Chargers’ subsequent series. The team noted that Herbert would undergo an MRI to assess the injury’s severity and determine his availability for future games.

The upcoming game against the Las Vegas Raiders poses a challenge for Herbert’s possible participation, with odds suggesting he might not play due to the short recovery period. The player remained optimistic, hoping for a quick recovery. The fractured finger has interrupted Herbert’s impressive 62-game streak, marking the second-longest active streak for NFL quarterbacks.

Stick Is Ready to Step Up and Prove His Worth

Herbert’s injury further damaged the Chargers’ dwindling playoff prospects, with projections indicating less than a 1% chance of securing an AFC Wild Card spot. If Herbert remains sidelined for the forthcoming matchup against the Raiders, backup quarterback Easton Stick is poised to fill the gap and step in for his first NFL start. 

Stick, known for his successes in the FCS with North Dakota State, holds a record for most wins by a starting quarterback in FCS play. Despite limited playing time this season, Stick showcased his potential, leading the Chargers to their sole scoring drive against the Broncos. He noted that learning from fellow Chargers quarterbacks Herbert and Philip Rivers had prepared him for this responsibility.

The Chargers have faced a disappointing season, suffering defeats in four of their last five games after Sunday’s 24–7 loss. The Miami Heat NBA franchise will have to go without Tyler Herro after the guard injured his ankle. He should be able to return to competing fairly quickly, experts believe.

The accident happened during the first quarter of last week’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies. In the first quarter of the game, Herro attempted a floater but landed on Grizzlies center Jaren Jackson’s foot.

As a result, Herro’s ankle got sprained. In an interview, the player admitted that he heard some crunches once he landed on Jackson’s foot and immediately knew he had sustained an injury.

Experts diagnosed the player with a grade 2 ankle sprain. His condition will be evaluated in two weeks to see if he can return to competing. This means that he will be absent from Miami Heat’s games for at least two weeks.

Whether the Heat will be able to maintain their momentum without Herro is yet to be seen. The team is pushing hard to win the championship and is currently on a five-game winning streak.

The Player Has Been Through This Before

The current incident isn’t the only time Herro has sustained an injury. Previously, the guard broke his shooting hand, causing him to skip many games.

Despite the injury, he continued to play for a while but eventually quit the field at halftime. Experts later confirmed the fracture, causing the player to miss out on a few weeks of action and appear at the NBA Finals.

Reminiscing about the accident, the Heat guard said that he has been through this “injury stuff” already. He said that this was very unfortunate but promised to continue to keep working.

In the meantime, Herro’s responsibilities will be handed to Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. The Heat’s head coach, Erik Spoelstra, believes that both players are well-prepared and will be able to meet expectations.

In an incident at the Gold Coast hotel-casino on October 28, 2021, a local resident, Dalease Brown, found herself in the midst of a casino nightmare. As a result, Brown recently filed a personal injury lawsuit against the Gold Coast casino, operated by Boyd Gaming, alleging that she was severely injured when a roulette ball struck her in the eye due to the dealer’s negligence. 

Lawsuit Filed After Roulette Ball Strikes Casino Player

According to the complaint, the rogue marble “ricocheted from the roulette wheel and violently struck Plaintiff in her left eye at a high rate of speed, severely injuring Plaintiff”, reported the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Brown’s attorney, Kevin Hanratty of the Hanratty Law Group, stated that his client suffered instant and excruciating eye pain, leading to permanent damage to her vision. After the incident, security personnel at the casino prepared an incident report, and Brown sought immediate medical treatment at a local hospital.

This case sheds light on the rare but dangerous occurrences involving roulette balls at casinos. Similar incidents have been reported in the past. In 2015, a Washington DC resident sued a casino after being hit in the eye by a roulette ball, while another incident involved a New Orleans resident in 2012. However, the outcomes of these cases varied, highlighting the complexity of legal proceedings in such situations.

Boyd Gaming, the operator of Gold Coast casino, has not yet responded to the allegations made by Brown. The lawsuit seeks damages in excess of $15,000 for the severe pain, medical expenses, and permanent impairment that Brown has endured as a result of the incident.

From Bats to Roulette Balls: Unusual Casino and Hotel Incidents

Flying roulette balls do not seem that peculiar considering the lawsuit against MGM Resorts caused by a bat. At the end of August, a group of Arizona guests filed a lawsuit against MGM Resorts International, operators of the New York-New York Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, following a harrowing encounter with a live bat in their hotel room. 

The incident occurred during their April 2022 stay, prompting concerns about rabies exposure. Marcus Rucker, awakened by a noise, found the bat hanging on their curtains. Despite reporting it to the hotel, the bat was disposed of improperly, preventing rabies testing. Consequently, the Rucker family and two visiting children underwent painful rabies injections. The lawsuit, seeking over $15,000 in damages, alleged emotional distress, suffering, medical expenses, lost wages, and disruption to daily life.
