A Las Vegas convict faces charges of kidnapping an underage girl and forcing her into prostitution by threatening her with a gun. The girl was eventually able to return to her mother and provided the police with details about her kidnapper, Corey Canton.

According to the official report, on December 1, the police responded to a report filed by the girl’s mother in which the latter claimed that her daughter had been the victim of sex trafficking. As it turns out, the girl had, for unspecified reasons, run away from her family, which was staying in a hotel in Las Vegas.

While walking on the Las Vegas Strip, the girl met another female juvenile who asked her if she’d like to make a “quick buck.” While the eventual victim did not know what that meant, she went along with the other girl.

The Girl Became the Victim of Sex Trafficking

The two of them ended up in the Days Inn motel and met with Canton, who was the second girl’s boyfriend, the report says. Canton compelled the first girl to sleep with him and allegedly prevented her from leaving afterward by threatening her with a gun.

The two girls later went to the Luxor where they were paid $100 to sleep with a man they did not know. According to the police, Canton’s girlfriend stole $1,000 from that man’s pants.

On November 29, Canton had the two girls walk onto the Las Vegas Strip and offer sex services to men. According to the police, the criminal told them to charge $100 to $300 for the act. The next morning they returned to the motel room and were provided with some food, liquor and drugs before returning to the Strip.

In the end, the girl who had run away from her family was able to leave the motel room and reunite with her mother. The mother then contacted the police, prompting the investigation.

Canton Faces Seven Charges

The police raided Canton’s motel room and found the handgun the girl had mentioned. As it turns out, Canton was a convicted felon already and was prohibited from owning a firearm. Canton himself was later found in his residence in the 6100 block of Carmen Boulevard and taken into custody.

He now faces a number of charges, including two counts of sex trafficking of a minor, assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of kidnapping of a minor and owning a gun by a prohibited person.

Canton is held in jail on a $25,000 bail as of the time of this writing. He is set to appear before court on Monday.

Prairie Flower Casino is a popular gaming and entertainment destination located on tribal land in Carter Lake, Iowa. The venue is owned and operated by the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska and it first opened its doors in 2018. Since then, the Tribe has been continuously reinvesting in the property, introducing new amenities and improving its existing offering. Back in October 2022, the Ponca Tribe confirmed the groundbreaking for a 60,000-square-foot expansion of the casino.

The expansion is expected to bring some 600 slot machines, as well as video poker devices and electronic table games. Moreover, the Prairie Flower Casino expansion will bring a sportsbook with a pub, additional dining and retail outlets. The additional area will help the venue grow its gaming floor and the expansion is located on the east side of the current structure.

Initially, the work at the venue was expected to be completed this summer. However, slight delays may push that deadline through the end of the year or early in 2025, as suggested by a report released by the Star Herald. James Centers, a spokesperson for the Ponca Tribe, commented on the topic explaining that the slight delay was the result of issues with the supply chains. Yet, he said that the current delay is marginal adding that “if winter weather holds like it is right now, we could make up some ground.”

“What we’ve seen with supply-chain issues since the pandemic, generally speaking, it’s not terrible to be a few months behind.“

Expansion of the Casino to Gain Further Speed in the Spring

Centers revealed that the steel frame needed for the expansion is already built. Moreover, he added: “They’re using this time before winter really sets in to get that structure in place … with the hopes that when we emerge in spring we can go full steam ahead in terms of completing the expansion.”

Given that the construction works keep up with the current expectations, it is likely Prairie Flower Casino to welcome its first guests of the expanded venue by the end of the year. Centers did not mention if further delays can be expected.

The timeframes gambling operators set when building new venues or completing redesigns are significantly important. This is because delays may result in significant losses or in some cases even impact the future of certain projects. However, this is clearly not the case for Prairie Flower Casino, considering that its expansion is ongoing at the time of writing.

Under the terms of the new multi-year collaboration, Bally’s gained rights to live broadcast, as well as exclusive free-to-play gaming content rights for its digital platforms.

The new partnership marks an important achievement for the duo. This is because the deal designated Bally’s as the first-ever National Media Rightsholder and Exclusive Fantasy and Gaming Partner of the MiLB.

Ultimately, the new collaboration is expected to deliver engaging experiences for MiLB fans, regardless if in-stadium or at home. As with similar deals, Bally’s gained rights to use official marks for marketing, broadcast, in-park signage and digital exposure of MiLB. Additionally, the deal extends to Bally’s new over-the-top, proprietary platform that delivers unique fan engagement tools, Bally Live. The application can be downloaded for iOS, as well as Android devices.

Via Bally Live, fans of the MiLB that attend in-person games will have the option to engage with fans outside of the stadium via a chat and watch party features. This immersive and unique form of entertainment is expected to deliver unique experiences and boost interest in MiLB games. The broadcasting via Bally Live kicks off Friday, March 31, 2023, and will run through the entire MiLB season, covering every game.
