MGM Resorts International has teased more details about the experience Bellagio Fountain Club will offer during the F1 Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix. The club is set to take “center stage” during the highly anticipated race and will host a Winner’s Stage event.

Set to take place from November 16 to 18, the Formula 1 Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix is one of the most exciting events in this year’s motorsports calendar. As announced by MGM, the Bellagio Fountain Club will host a variety of events prior to, during and after the race.

Bellagio Fountain Club Will Bring Fans Closer to the Action

At the club, fans will be able to watch the race live. MGM will leverage “an unprecedented Dolby Vision viewing experience powered by LG OLED evo TVs” to “bring fans even closer to the track.” MGM said that action will come to life on screen with bright and vivid colors, cutting-edge detail and dazzling contrast. A total of eight screens will ensure that no guest misses a beat.

The Bellagio Fountain Club will also offer proximity to the track itself from an elevated location on the property’s signature lake. The club’s rooftop hospitality deck will allow guests to see the cars on the Las Vegas Boulevard live.

The club will also welcome entertainers from MGM Resorts’ entertainment portfolio and will also welcome some of the race’s best drivers for post-race commentary on Saturday night. This will notably include the top three drivers in the race who will share their reflections on the event with the community.

Leading Chefs and Will Cook Up Amazing Experiences

In addition, the venue will welcome renowned chefs such as the chef and humanitarian José Andrés, the famous award-winning chef Christina Tosi, the Michelin-decorated Alain Ducasse and Rainer Becker, founder of the famous izakaya-style Japanese restaurant ZUMA in London.

The aforementioned chefs will join a chef roster that also includes Mario Carbone, David Chang, Michael Mina, Masaharu Morimoto, Bryan & Michael Voltaggio and Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

This impressive chef lineup will provide motorsports fans unparaleled dining options. According to MGM, chefs will rotate throughout the three days of the F1 race, introducing new menus each day. In the meantime, a team of decorated mixologists and sommeliers will curate an open bar.

Second Chance for Illinois ex-Convicts at Casinos

Senate Bill 1462 will not necessarily grant exclusive hiring rights to former cons, but it will certainly make the hiring pool a little broader, and it will allow for convicts who have not committed specific acts to be vetted and possibly hired into the hospitality industry, and casinos in particular.

The Illinois Gaming Board would still have a final say in the matter when convicts are being hired, as the regulator could not permit anyone who is deemed a threat to public safety, the state’s interests, or gaming integrity to work directly in the industry.

The implication of the gubernatorial signature could be quite significant, though. At least 1.5 million people in Illinois have some felony charges, which means that they are automatically struggling to find and secure employment, which pushes many into even more crime.

This is precisely the argument Sen. Robert Peters has delivered, arguing that making sure people have a choice and access to employment is something that would allow them to stay out of bad habits and backsliding into their own ways. Peters himself is an opponent of mass incarceration and has spoken avidly about the harm it causes to people’s lives in the long term:

Mass incarceration and profoundly deep income inequality are tied together. There is an inherent contradiction in saying that you want to be tough on crime while you are leaving people out of economic opportunity.

At the same time, the bill could not have come at a better time, with a new casino resort on its way. The Freedom Center in River West is going to open a new casino in 2026, with some 6,000 jobs created in the process. Half of those are temporary and linked to the construction of the project, with $1.7 billion going down in the investment.

At the same time, 700 jobs are already available at a temporary site at Madinah Temple which launched earlier in the year. Gov. Pritzker should do right by Illinois citizens and help them get a second chance. Violent offenders and those guilty of particularly serious financial crimes would not be able to work in the industry under the current bill, however.

The latest regulatory move sees the national watchdog, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), prepared to issue show-cause orders and fines up to $50,000 to any POGO that has let third-party run operations under its own license. The news was first reported by Rappler, a media outlet that cited officials.

PAGCOR Tightens the Noose on POGOs

PAGCOR assistant VP for compliance Jessa Fernandez and Clark Development Corporation CEO Agnes Devanadera said that the new measure is because of a recent incident involving a POGO service provider that had its license revoked. The POGO in question was operating out of Sun Valley Clark and it was found to be in numerous breaches of existing law, although none specified the sub-licensure of its own license as one of the offenses.

PAGCOR has gone after CGC Technologies as a response to an investigation that Sun Valley Clark had been turned into a gaming hub where criminals would go to conduct unlawful business and set up their bases for schemes and frauds involving cryptocurrencies and human trafficking. However, the crackdown on Sun Valley Clark is related to the overall decision to take a harsher stance on third-party sublicensing by POGOs.

The Clark County Security Council spoke on Friday confirming that this issue has allowed criminals to set up shop in the jurisdiction and conduct business out of there, using POGO licenses as a cover. This will now be addressed with the full force of the law. POGOs have long been criticized for their questionable practices and accused of being conduits of social ills and crime.

Most of this crime has targeted overseas customers, but in the meantime, many of the operators have been involved in human trafficking as they often attract workers from other countries in Asia and then hold them in captivity, offering nominal pay and substance. This form of modern slavery has had a damaging impact on the Philippines’ reputation and it has further exacerbated relationships with its neighbors, notably China.

PAGCOR has also recently responded and issued a public reprimand to a website that had hijacked a domain name of historic significance in the United States to beguile unwitting consumers into gambling with the illegal, unregistered, and in all likelihood – fraudulent gambling operator.

Now, Atlantic City residents who wish to train as casino table game dealers can do so for free, as confirmed by the Atlantic County Workforce Development Board this Monday.

A six-week course will be held at the Atlantic County One-Stop Career Center in Pleasantville, New Jersey, and there seem to be more courses planned as well. Atlantic County executive Dennis Levinson welcomed the opportunity and said that it was a perfect chance for residents to pick new skills for free. An average casino dealer in Atlantic City makes $70,000 a year.

Free Casino Table Dealer School Courses to Get Started

“These new dealers could be on casino floors before Memorial Day weekend,” Levinson effused. The Workforce Development Board is looking to ensure that anyone who wishes to participate in the training, and then pursue a career as a casino table game dealer may do so without any worries about the financial aspects of obtaining their licensure.

The county will cover both tuition costs as well as pay the licensing fee which the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement asks of newly-registered casino employees. All of this is part of the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunities Act, a measure that was passed in 2014 and was designed to offer training and tuition to US citizens in various counties and states, helping businesses find the workers they need.

The first course will be getting underway on Saturday, April 1 at the Atlantic County One-Stop Career Center. Registration for the class can take place over the phone at 609-485-0052 or by visiting the center in person during working hours. Spending on training dealers is a smart choice by the county, as there has been a growing hunger for qualified dealers not just in Atlantic City, but pretty much everywhere where there are casinos in the United States.

Health Scares, Pandemic Blues, and Difficulty Finding Qualified Workers

During the pandemic, many workers chose their health over finance and withdrew from the profession. Others were dispirited by the lack of support some companies showed, letting them fend for themselves during the nadir of the pandemic.
