Many dream of winning the jackpot but few can imagine hitting three big prizes on the same day. Surprisingly, this is exactly what happened to a lucky Caesars player in Las Vegas.

The player in question was visiting the Caesars Palace venue Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. As reported, the lucky player turned his stay into a $667,750 payday after hitting three big prizes in the span of several hours.

According to Caesars, the anonymous player’s first win came at around 9:30 pm. The player won $125,000 playing Aristocrat Gaming’s Dragon Link slot. Instead of taking his prize home, the player remained around and later won another $383,500 playing on a similar machine. The second win, according to reports, came a bit before 11 pm. The player, however, still hadn’t gotten enough and, at around 12:30 am found himself winning another $159,250.

Reports say that the player won each of the big prizes via $25 bets. Although the player won a total of $667,750, the sum he took home was likely smaller because of casino taxes.

Caesar Entertainment did not release further statements on the matter.

The Caesars Palace Guest Was Not the Only Lucky Player

Earlier this month, another Caesars player, this time playing online from New Jersey, hit a $440,000 jackpot. This was notably the largest prize won on Caesars Palace Online Casino to date.

In other news, several more players won prizes of $1 million after failing to match the Powerball. Had one of them guessed all numbers correctly, they would have been in for a payday of almost a billion dollars.

As a result, the jackpot has risen to $975 million for the next drawing with a cash value of $471.7 million.

Elsewhere, a French couple just won the €73 million EuroMillions jackpot. In Michigan, on the other hand, a woman took home some $791,957 after spending a small lottery win on an additional ticket.

The New York sports betting market continues to post record-breaking monthly results. As reported by the New York State Gaming Commission, sports betting operators in the state recorded betting handle of $2.1 billion in November. This exceeds October’s spectacular results when the industry also exceeded $2 billion in bets, becoming the first state to surpass this milestone.

November’s record-breaking results represent a 5.1% month-on-month increase and a whopping 35.7% year-on-year increase. The state’s ability to not only repeat but surpass the October results attests to the fast growth of the local industry and the increased interest in betting products.

Despite the favorable results, the actual revenue recorded by sportsbooks declined by 9.2%. For reference, sports betting operators in The Empire State reported total revenue of $150.9 million and a hold rate of only 7.1%. For reference, the industry had a hold rate of 8.2% last month.

The lower hold rate does not undermine sportsbooks, though, as their revenue still exceeded the revenue recorded in November 2022.

FanDuel Dominated the NY Market

New York’s Gambling Commission also provided information about the performance of the state’s legal sports betting operators. The market continued to be dominated by FanDuel, which singlehandedly handled $925.4 million of the total $2.1 billion in handle. It was followed by DraftKings, which recorded a betting handle of $732.1 million. Rounding up the top three is Caesars with a handle of $204.9 million

BetMGM, on the other hand, reported $120.6 million in handle. Rush Street Interactive, PointsBet, WynnBet and ResortsWorld Bet failed to surpass the $100 million mark, reporting handle of $76.6 million, $27.2 million, $11.3 million and $6.8 million, respectively. In November, Bally’s also returned to New York, generating $4.3 million in handle through its BallyBet brand.

In terms of revenue, FanDuel maintained its lead, reporting $69.2 million from its November operations. DraftKings remained in second place with a revenue of $54.3 million. Caesars, on the other hand, earned $11.6 million.

The top three were followed by BetMGM at $7.9 million. Rush Street Interactive and PointsBet, meanwhile, recorded handle of $4.9 million and $2.4 million respectively. ResortsWorld Bet, BallyBet and WynnBet failed to hit the one million mark, instead reporting revenues of $483,000, $234,000 and $312,000, respectively.

The sports betting operations in New York resulted in $83 million in taxes to the state.

Scientific Games has once again expressed its commitment to responsible gaming education by backing the National Council on Problem Gambling’s annual Gift Responsibly campaign. This is notably the sixth holiday season the digital games, technology and analytics company has promoted the initiative.

The campaign advocates against the gifting of lottery cards to minors during the holidays, alleging that such gifts can lead to gambling harm. Exposure to such content from a young age risks normalizing gambling to kids and teaching them to associate gambling with festivities.

Scientific Games prides itself on being an exemplary company when it comes to responsible gambling. The company’s Healthy Play program, for example, provides a number of reliable science-based tools and practices that lottery operators can use to protect their players and prevent minors from participating in games of chance. The program was recently awarded a 2023 Communitas Award for Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility.

In addition, Scientific Games’ Responsible Gaming Study and toolkit provides further insights into the sector, increasing lottery literacy and encouraging healthy play. The company is one of the first lottery providers to ever receive global certification as a Responsible Gaming Supplier from the World Lottery Association.

Minors Should Never Play the Lottery

Keith Whyte, executive director of the National Council on Problem Gambling, praised Scientific Games’ commitment to promoting the Gift Responsibly campaign. He said that the company’s participation in the initiative will help to reduce youth problem gambling.

Whyte added that minors should not play lotteries, not even during the holidays.

Lottery games should never be given to minors, during the holidays or at any other time. Childhood exposure to lottery products can lead to lifelong problems, and youth problem gambling is a public health issue.

Keith Whyte, exec director, NCPG

Carla Schaefer, Scientific Games’ vice president of responsible gaming, also commented on the matter, praising the Gift Responsibly campaign. She said that the initiative aligns with her company’s desire to prevent youth problem gambling and promote responsible lottery participation.

Increasing lottery literacy gives players the knowledge they need to play responsibly and keep lottery games out of minors’ hands.

Carla Schaefer, VP of responsible gaming, Scientific Games

In other news, Scientific Games recently confirmed its plans to accelerate investment in its iLottery Content Hub. Several days earlier, the company released a Monopoly-inspired lottery game.

International Game Technology, a world leader in gambling, has published its 2022 Sustainability Report, highlighting the company’s sustainability efforts. The company listed four core sustainability pillars, which include the protection of its people, advancement of responsibility, support for its communities and the fostering of sustainable operations.

“Valuing and Protecting Our People”

IGT pointed out that it fields employees in almost 60 countries, making it a very cosmopolitan company. As a result, the company seeks to respect individuals’ beliefs while protecting human rights and promoting diversity, equity and inclusion.

In 2022, IGT added its Human Rights Policy Statement to employee training. The training has now been completed by 97%+ of the company’s employees. In addition, the company was included in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index, which measures the inclusion of LGBT+ people.

Finally, IGT noted that in 2022, it was the first casino and gambling company to sign the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles.

“Advancing Responsibility”

As a global leader in gaming, IGT recognizes the importance of responsibility to its business. The company is therefore bullish on mitigating risk for its customers, employees, players, suppliers and the environment through a system of codes, policies guidelines and practices.

Last year, the company achieved Global Gambling Guidance Group’s responsible gaming accreditation for sports betting, becoming the first US industry supplier to do so.

In addition, IGT adopted a Positive Play approach, encouraging safer gambling across all of its business segments.

“Supporting Our Communities”

IGT prides itself on its sustainable community initiatives. The company operates through corporate and employee-driven programs to facilitate opportunities for support, learning and growth.

In 2022, the gaming giant published its first formal Community Giving and Engagement Policy to inform its stakeholders of its approach to supporting its communities.

In the meantime, IGT’s flagship philanthropic initiative, After School Advantage, provided young people with access to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) educational opportunities. Thanks to an agreement with the STEM Discovery Centre, the program was also expanded to the UK.

“Fostering Sustainable Operations”

IGT expressed its desire to ensure that its corporate policies and ESG standards apply to its entire value chain. The company is fully committed to addressing its environmental impact and mitigating its effect on climate change, biodiversity and air pollution while increasing circularity.

IGT added that in 2022, it submitted near-term and long-term targets to the Science Based Targets initiative for validation. The company promised to do what it can to reduce its carbon emissions as a way to fight climate change.

In addition, IGT implemented decarbonization workstreams to see how it can reduce GHG emissions.

CEO Sadusky Promises the Efforts Will Continue

IGT’s chief executive officer, Vince Sadusky, said that the current report marks the 16th consecutive year the company has released a Sustainability Report. He noted that this shows how seriously the company takes all initiatives that could have a positive impact on its corporate culture and the planet.

With a strong foundation centered around Sustainable Play and priorities aligned with UN Global Compact principles and Sustainable Development Goals, IGT continues to make considerable progress as an industry leader in global sustainability as we build a more sustainable business for the future.

Vince Sadusky, CEO, IGT

Meanwhile, IGT just forayed into Panama, launching content with Sortis Hotel, Spa & Casino.
