Seven key operators of online casinos and sports betting websites in the United States have announced their alliance with the purpose of creating the Responsible Online Gaming Association.

The aim of the respective association is to promote responsible gaming in the United States and to promote best practices for the iGaming industry in the country and not only.

The association was formed by BetMGM, Bet365, DraftKings, Fanatics Betting & Gaming, FanDuel, Hard Rock Digital and Penn Entertainment, operators that are licensed to conduct their business in several American states.

These seven companies are dominating the market in the United States, their combined market share reaching 85 percent of the American online sports betting and iGaming market. The seven companies pledged a sum in excess of 20 million dollars for the Responsible Online Gaming Association in order to finance its activity for the first year.

Dr Jennifer Shatley, a professional with 25 years of experience within the industry, was appointed Executive Director of the Responsible Online Gaming Association. She is also the President of the Nevada Council on Problem Gambling and also a member of the National Council on Problem Gambling.

Five Main Objectives

The Responsible Online Gaming Association has set five key objectives for its activity. The first one is to promote research regarding responsible gaming, including funding independent research on the impact and effectiveness of current responsible gaming tools.

Moreover, the Responsible Online Gaming Association will also promote best practices for responsible gaming, encouraging companies in the industry to employ these principles in their activities.

Another goal of the association is to raise awareness about the problems generated by irresponsible gaming and encourage appropriate advertising for gambling services and brands.

The Responsible Online Gaming Association has also announced that it will work to create an independent data clearinghouse, a tool for the member companies to share information between them in order to protect their customers.

Last but not least, the Responsible Online Gaming Association will try to establish an independent certification programme. This will have the task of evaluating the responsible gaming efforts made by the member companies and provide objective feedback regarding their responsible gaming policies.

Strive Gaming, a software supplier that has created a full service omni-channel iGaming platform designed specifically for the North American markets, has announced it will keep focusing on the United States.

The company was founded just three years ago by Damian Xuereb, the current President, together with Max Meltzer, the current Chief Executive Officer. Xuereb says that the business had the advantage of understanding nuances of markets in each of the American states it operates in.

“We had the opportunity to do our research and ensure we built a product that meets not just the current state, but the future state or requirements, as and when we roll out into more and more states,” Damian Xuereb explained.

Another advantage for the company is that it refused to step into other markets away from the United States, keeping its focus solely on North America. “We won’t get distracted by other regulations,” Xuereb underlined, pointing out that the Brazilian, Dutch or German markets are not of interest for his company. “That means our business and our product will continually evolve around the North American player experience,” he added.

Eight Big Clients Secured

During its three years of activity, Strive Gaming secured partnerships with eight important iGaming brands. The first two were Desert Diamond and Golden Nugget Online Gaming in Arizona. Then the company signed agreements with Betsafe, PointsBet in Canada and Four Winds, owned by the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians. The supplier has already secured additional clients which are yet to be announced.

About the company’s partners, Damian Xuereb said that all of them managed to “gain meaningful market share.” The Strive Gaming President gave the example of Desert Diamond in Arizona, which is owned by a local tribal operator, and revealed that the brand is successfully competing with “big hitters” and also triumphed against nationwide companies. “With the right technology behind a brand, local operators can compete,” Damian Xuereb concluded.

The Strive Gaming founder also predicted that there will be growing opportunities in North America because while online sports betting is currently present in 36 American states, iCasino is available in just seven states and the market is bound to expand. Indiana is one of the states where gambling legalization is discussed, while Joseph Addabbo, a state senator from New York, has introduced a new version of a bill which would legalize online casino gaming and internet lottery.

Relax Gaming (RG), one of the world’s top aggregators and creators of games for online casinos, has announced that it has finally managed to launch in the United States thanks to a partnership with BetMGM in New Jersey.

The company has obtained a vendor transactional waiver for New Jersey and that allowed it to form the partnership with BetMGM for the United States launch. The company will be known in the U.S. under a slightly different name, RLX Gaming, but its extensive offering of slot games remains unchanged. These will be made available to the customers of BetMGM in New Jersey, including hugely popular titles such as Epic Joker and The Great Pigsby.

The supplier is no stranger to North America, though, as it has managed to launch in Ontario, Canada’s most populous province, in 2022. Moreover, Relax has been one of the first providers to secure a license in Ontario once that market opened to private operators. The addition of New Jersey to the company’s roster of jurisdictions is regarded as a key step for further expansion in North America for Relax Gaming.

A Landmark Moment

Speaking about the New Jersey launch, Simon Hammon, Chief Executive Officer of both Relax Gaming and RLX Gaming, described it as “a landmark moment” for the company and added that it is the biggest launch to date for the supplier.

“BetMGM’s ethos perfectly aligns with our vision and we expect our partnership to truly flourish,” Simon Hammon added about the way he expects the collaboration with BetMGM to continue.

Oliver Bartlett, Vice-President of Gaming Product & Content at BetMGM, welcomed Relax Gaming into the United States market and declared that his company was “honored to be the first operator in the States” to benefit from the supplier’s “engaging portfolio of games.”

Relax Gaming is one of the most successful content providers in the iGaming industry, having secured multiple partnerships with top online casino operators from all around the world as well as several awards for its activity. The supplier has achieved high levels of success once it released the Money Train slot game, which then developed into a series which comprises five titles at the moment.

The American Gaming Association, the United States gambling industry association, revealed that 2023 is bound to become a record year for the U.S. gambling industry when it comes to revenue.

In the third quarter of the year the United States commercial gambling sector managed to generate revenue of 16.17 billion dollars, a figure which represents an increase of 6.1 percent compared to the same quarter of last year. Moreover, this was the eleventh consecutive quarter of revenue growth and also the best third quarter in the history of the American gambling industry.

All verticals within the gaming industry registered growth during the quarter, with land-based casinos and iGaming registering all-time records for a single quarter. However, the pace of growth did slow for a second consecutive quarter due to the difficulty of surpassing the already solid figures that were registered last year.

The report released by the American Gaming Association took into account results registered in 33 commercial gaming jurisdictions that were operational one year ago. Seventeen of the 33 jurisdictions registered increases in revenue during the third quarter compared to 2022. Moreover, five states managed to set new records for a single quarter, including the two biggest commercial gaming markets in the country: Nevada and New Jersey.

In Nevada, gaming revenue registered an increase of 2.9 percent year-on-year, reaching a total amount of 3.88 billion dollars. The increase was driven by a record-breaking quarter for the famous casinos on the Las Vegas Strip, which managed to generate 741.2 million dollars during the quarter. The period also saw the highest baccarat win in state history: 458.4 million dollars.

Strong Economic Contributions

Bill Miller, the President and Chief Executive Officer of the American Gaming Association, welcomed the record figures registered by the association’s Commercial Gaming Revenue Tracker. This tool provides state-by-state insight into the American gaming industry and its financial performance. At the end of the third quarter there were 35 states that had operational commercial gaming markets with legal casino gaming, sports betting or online gaming. The District of Columbia also has an operational commercial gaming market.

Speaking about the sector’s importance in the American economy, Bill Miller underlined that the gaming industry provides “strong economic contributions” that help communities all around the country as it provides increased tax revenue and jobs for “millions of Americans.”

State and local governments in states that have operational commercial gaming markets gaming received an estimated 3.43 billion dollars in taxes tied directly to gaming revenue, a figure which represents an increase of 4.7 percent compared to last year.

Bill Miller also revealed that players in America “continue to migrate” towards legal and regulated sports betting and gaming options. “This sustained demand only reinforces the need for federal and state enforcement against illegal, offshore operators,” the American Gaming Association CEO concluded.
