Tonybet has expanded its offering in Ireland with the launch of poker on October 6, adding the card game to a platform that already features sports betting, live casino and slots. Existing Irish customers can access poker through their current account without downloading a separate app or creating another account.
Poker Joins Tonybet’s Existing Lineup
Tonybet’s sportsbook covers more than 100 sports and provides pre-match and live in-play betting, cashout and a Bet Builder. The operator also maintains a racing section covering Irish, UK and international meetings.
Its casino contains more than 9,000 titles from over 1,000 providers. The selection includes slots, live dealer games and jackpots, with providers such as Pragmatic Play, Play’n GO, BGaming and Hacksaw represented.
Players use a single account and wallet across desktop and mobile. The platform also provides responsible gaming tools that include deposit limits, session reminders, cooling-off periods and self-exclusion. A VIP programme offers dedicated account managers and tailored promotions to its most engaged customers.
Poker adds another player-focused option to this existing setup. At launch, Irish customers can select from cash tables, scheduled tournaments and Spins. Cash tables allow players to join and leave at any time, while tournaments operate with buy-ins and prize pools. Spins use smaller fields and a faster tournament format.
EvenBet Gaming provides the poker technology. The B2B specialist has worked on more than 200 poker projects across 20 countries. The poker offering runs directly through the Tonybet website, where players can also find the full rules for each available format.
A Long-Established Card Game Moves Online
Poker has developed from nineteenth-century card games played in the Mississippi region into an international form of competition. Different formats emerged as the game spread, while card clubs eventually established poker in markets around the world.
The World Series of Poker gave the game a major stage in Las Vegas from 1970. Online poker later gained further attention after Chris Moneymaker won the 2003 World Series of Poker after entering through an $86 online satellite. He collected $2.5 million from a then-record field of 839 players.
Poker’s player-versus-player structure remains central to the format. Players make decisions based on the cards they hold and the actions of opponents at the table. That format has helped the game maintain a presence in both private games and major televised tournaments.
Tony Cascarino Welcomes The Launch
Former Republic of Ireland striker Tony Cascarino has also backed the addition. Cascarino earned 88 international caps before developing a second career in poker. His poker record includes two Grosvenor UK Poker Tour titles and more than $600,000 in live tournament winnings.
He said: “Poker gave me a second sporting life. It has everything football has – pressure, reading your opponent, holding your nerve when everything’s on the line – except you can play it into your eighties. As a Tonybet ambassador, it’s brilliant to see the brand bringing the game to its players. Pull up a chair; you won’t regret it.”
With poker now available, Tonybet’s Irish platform brings the new vertical together with its existing sportsbook and casino products through the same account.
