Chelsea Determined to Win the 1st Trophy in the Post-Abramovich Era
The last time Chelsea won a major trophy was on February 12, 2022, when the Blues won the FIFA Club World Cup. Twelve days later, Russia invaded Ukraine and the UK decided to sanction Chelsea’s owner Roman Abramovich for his ties with Vladimir Putin. As a result, he decided to sell the club to American businessman Todd Boehly.
The new owner invested over a billion dollars in rebuilding the squad, signing a number of talented youngsters over the next two years. So far, however, his investment hasn’t paid off. Chelsea is not doing great in the league – the Blues are currently in the 10th spot in the Premier League.
However, Mauro Pochettino-led men have a chance to win a major trophy this coming weekend. They’ve set their eyes on the 2024 EFL Cup, which they will get ahold of if they beat Liverpool.
Liverpool Going for the Quadruple?
In what’s going to be the final season with Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool’s manager, this team has a chance to do the quadruple.
The Reds are sitting at the very top of the Premier League at the moment. They’ve also reached the Round of 16 in the FA Cup and the Round of 32 in the Europa League. Still, the first trophy they can win in 2024 is the EFL Cup.
Although this competition isn’t as important to them as the other three, you can be certain that they will take Sunday’s game seriously. One thing that does have to worry them is that they could miss as many as nine first-team players in the 2024 ELF Cup Final.
Among those are such key players as goalkeeper Alisson, wing-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, and forwards Mohamed Samah, Diogo Jota, and Darwin Nunez. These guys are responsible for more than half of all the goals Liverpool has scored in the 2023-24 season.
Chelsea vs. Liverpool 2024 ELF Cup Final Prediction
We think Chelsea will win the 2024 ELF Cup Final. Not only does this team have huge motivation, but its roster looks capable of dealing with banged-up Liverpool. It’s not going to be an easy game – in fact, we could even see penalties – but we think the Blues will win their first title in the Todd Boehly era.
