The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has revoked Goldwin Limited’s gaming authorization, effective March 13, 2025. This move follows the suspension of Goldwin’s gaming license on September 25, 2024, after the company was found in violation of several gaming regulations.
Reasons for Cancellation
Goldwin, which held the MGA license number MGA/B2C/533/2018, was suspended for violating multiple provisions of the Gaming Compliance and Enforcement Regulations. The MGA cited non-compliance with obligations to players and failure to meet commitments in a timely manner as key reasons for this action. The authority determined that Goldwin’s actions represented an imminent threat to player interests, leading to the suspension and the ultimate cancellation of its license.
Obligations Following the Cancellation
In line with the cancellation, Goldwin must notify all players of the decision through email and also post the notice prominently on its website for a period of 30 days. Players who wish to withdraw their funds are advised to use the MGA’s ticketing system for assistance.
Additionally, Goldwin must settle any outstanding fees owed to the MGA within five working days from the effective date of cancellation and immediately remove all references to the MGA and its authorization from any marketing materials or other documents. This requirement is based on Article 51 of the Gaming Act.
Regulatory Strategy Update
This action by the MGA is also part of the updated regulatory framework for 2025, which focuses on risk-based resource allocation, proactive risk management, and enhanced collaboration to address emerging risks within the gaming market. These changes aim to strengthen the MGA’s oversight and improve market accountability.
The decision to revoke Goldwin’s license is subject to appeal under Article 43(1) of the Gaming Act, providing the company an option to challenge the ruling if it chooses.
