RubyPlay Launches In-Game Missions & Tournaments

RubyPlay-launches-first-of-its-kind-in-game-Engagement-ToolsRubyPlay has unveiled a new suite of in-game engagement tools designed to increase player interaction and retention across its gaming ecosystem. The launch introduces Missions and Tournaments structured around actual in-game events, rather than relying solely on wallet-based mechanics. This approach is intended to make gameplay itself the primary driver of engagement.

Dr. Eyal Loz, Chief Product Officer at RubyPlay, discussed the new initiative in an interview with iGamingBusiness. He emphasized that the strategy focuses on leveraging real gameplay moments, from symbols landing to feature activations, to create a more compelling experience. “That constraint forced genuine innovation via progression systems, mission structures, layered objectives and community competition,” Loz said, highlighting how the studio’s methodology diverges from traditional reward systems.

Shifting from Wallet-Based to Gameplay Engagement

The iGaming industry has long relied on transactional engagement tools, often rewarding players based on spend or bankroll size. RubyPlay’s new system instead anchors rewards to in-game achievements, such as triggering features or landing key symbols. Loz explained that this method ensures engagement is measured in real time during play, rather than inferred from monetary transactions. He added that this approach provides richer data and a fairer competitive environment, making participation accessible to all players, not just high rollers.

RubyPlay’s methodology draws inspiration from social casino gaming, where retention must be earned through compelling product design in the absence of real-money incentives. According to Loz, the social casino model drove innovation through layered objectives, progression systems, and community competition. iGaming, he notes, has traditionally used monetary rewards as a substitute, which may provide short-term retention but does not foster long-term player loyalty.

Implementation Across the RubyPlay Ecosystem

The Missions and Tournaments tools will be embedded throughout RubyPlay’s portfolio, ensuring that all games can seamlessly support in-game engagement events. Operators can connect directly to RubyPlay’s Event API to enrich their existing CRM systems or use the studio’s native engine to activate missions and tournaments. The unified, portfolio-wide approach allows operators to implement these tools consistently, enhancing overall player experience and retention.

Early data suggests strong results. Players given missions with targets exceeding their usual habits achieved a completion rate above 70%, indicating a significant shift in engagement behavior. These outcomes demonstrate the potential for in-game event-driven tools to meaningfully alter player interactions and session depth.

RubyPlay’s initiative represents a notable departure from traditional iGaming retention tactics, focusing on the core gameplay experience rather than external transactional incentives. By rewarding actual in-game actions, the studio aims to create a more immersive and equitable engagement environment that could redefine player retention strategies across the sector.
